not really as good as Blood for Dracula
18 January 2023
It is not really as good as Paul Morrissey's second one Blood for Dracula (1974) and I believe that the Mary Shelley story is not really as good as that of Bram Stoker. Maybe that is unfair but the other story certainly has more possibilities. Udo Kier is great but not quite as good in this one and does rather shout a lot although I have to say that his messing around with the bodies is rather terrible but most splendid and I'm not sure if necrophilia counts if they are only half dead. I have to say that Dalila Di Lazzaro as the 'female monster' is lovely even if she doesn't speak. She didn't do as many films as she might have but is very good in the giallo, The Pyjama Girl Case (1977) and also Daria Argento's Phenomena (1985). Found that the two children have a good time and the strikingly pretty redhead Nicoletta Elmi was only 9yrs and she also did Who Saw Her Die (1972) and Deep Red (1975). Joe Dallessandro also doesn't have as good a part as most of the other but is has its moments. I have to say that the 3-D back in the day and the original was fantastic but it seems a shame that maybe too much time was spent on this instead of the story.
