Speakman has got the POWER!!
19 October 2022
Jeff (Jeff Speakman) has been raised to master the art of kenpo karate by his mentor and life-longfriend Kim (Mako). When Kim is killed by the Korean mafia, Jeff begins a search of LA'S Chinatown for the Mr Big who ordered his death.

Quite an enjoyable Martial arts film from the early 90's in the vein of Van Damme and Steven Seagal. Jeff Speakman makes a good hero, isn't too bad an actor for this kind of film, though he's a little stiff. I'm sure he would've improved in these type of films. Unfortunately, he hasn't done many. Which is a shame cause he comes across well, though it's his Kenpo skills that impress. The fights are well-staged, exciting, hard-hitting, and there's enough to keep the average Martial Arts fan happy. Check out the fight scene between Speakman and Professor Tanaka, who is casted typically as an imposing henchman. It's quite exciting, and there's a nod to Goldfinger where Bond throws Oddjob's killer hat at Oddjob and misses, hitting a steel wall, and when odd job grabs it he gets electrocuted, thanks to Bond. Here, Tanaka gets flamed.

The story is nothing new, but it's the action and steady plot that spikes this one above average.
