WEIRD ONE TO BE SURE...!

A 1974 horror fantasy directed by famous schlockmeister William Castle (in his last film as a director) & starring of all people the famous French mime, Marcel Marceau. Marceau lives in a rural village plying his trade as a puppeteer but on the eve of showing up to a young fan & friend's, Cindy Eilbacher (sister of Lisa Eilbacher who was in Beverly Hills Cop & An Officer & a Gentleman), home to celebrate her birthday, he's summoned to an inventor's manse (also played by Marceau in old age makeup) who's invented a device to essentially puppeteer the dead as he demonstrates w/a dead toad & chicken. Returning for a follow up visit, he finds the scientist has passed but Marceau is industrial enough to animate his dead corpse & maintain the facade he's still alive. Soon enough after a tragic accident finds Marceau's landlords dead, Marceau applies his new technique to his former apartment keepers & presents Elibacher w/a show for the ages. Definitely the weirdest film from the 70's I've ever seen w/poor Marceau under the delusion this was going to be the film which would take him someplace else in his career ended up being a massive miscalculation but if you like things off the grid, this may be your cup of cinematic tea.
