Grave Robbers (1989)
4/10
Good premise, costumes, atmosphere, and gore - but TERRIBLE writing.

For the most part, this story follows a group of teenage grave robbers who rob the wrong grave this time. From there on, it's just watching them and everyone around them get picked off, as you would expect, but in ways you might not. The variety of ways that people meet their demise was kind of refreshing. But watching the main characters consistently do things that make absolutely no sense is maddening.

Examples: They tie off a rope to lower themselves into the crypt, then don't use the rope. They never run away when they're able to. They waste time doing nothing when they should be starting the car, running away, etc. Oh, and the cars never start when you need them to, of course. It's the epitome of lazy writing.

I get it. It's just a dumb horror movie. But c'mon, man, make an effort.

If you're okay with terrible writing and no real story to speak of, and makeup effects that get worse as the movie goes on, I guess you'll be alright. For the rest of you, this is gonna be a little rough in parts. Good luck.
