A disgrace to the original
11 September 2022
This movie was very clearly trying to re-create the magic of Pee-Wee's big adventure, but everything that movie does well, this one doesn't...

In Big Adventure, you have a strange person, surrounded by mostly normal people, who all tolerate and go along with this strange person. In Big Holiday, you have every single character trying to be super quirky and over the top. Not a single character in the whole movie is believable, and even Pee-wee doesn't seem to know how to play himself any more. I think Hollywood is so disconnected from the real world, they don't even know what a real person acts like any more.

I also can't tell how this movie even relates to the original. It acts as if the first one never even happened, but calling this a prequel, when Paul is 64, is even more unbelievable.

The whole movie is trying way too hard, and it falls flat.
