Bart kills a mother bird by accident and then feels responsible. When it is obvious there are eggs in the nest, he decides to take care of them. Sounds like a Brady Bunch plot, but this is The Simpsons. It turns out the eggs contain a dangerous exotic lizard that kills birds. It's worth the wait to hear Principal Skinner's explanation at the end.
