Review of Nip/Tuck

Nip/Tuck (2003–2010)
6/10
The anti ER.....flatlined in the end

Ryan Murphy created something very special with Nip/Tuck. A combination of black comedy and drama about plastic surgery, so real in the operation room, that it won awards for the effects. Starting of a pilot with an ass reduction is a good way to say that this is not your average entertainment. Unfortunately, Nip/Tuck has some major flaws that not even the doctors Troy or MacNamara can fix with surgery.

It went on FAR to long. Murphy did the same thing with American Horror Story, which flatlined at season 5. He doesnt know his limits, and with Nip/tuck, it should have just quit when Sean and Christian moved to Hollywood, after the Carver season (which had the most stupid conclusion ever).

I normally don't have problems with gore and things like that, but I actually skipped some of the operations, it was to much for me. And that says alot of the special effects. Or maybe most of us doesnt like to see huge amounts of fat getting sucked out of people?

Anyhow, the writing. It seems Murphy & co went out of ideas after awhile, cause you felt they started repeating themselves, OR they went so far, it felt they wanted to push the envelope. Sean and Christian are both very flawed individuals, and not that likable. Christian brags about each episode of his giant penis, and have more sex than James Bond and Gene Simmons together. Sean is jealous at Christian, since Sean is the brain and the talent, while Christian steals his thunder. So, no, I don't like ether of the main characters, shallow and egosentric.

The longer the show went, the more stupid and infantile the stories went. When Murphy had nowhere to go with a central character, they were killed of, and you could see it coming. And I didn't even care, cause it was so poorly written. The BIG plus with Nip/Tuck is it's smorgasbord of cameos. Special mention to the late, great Joan Rivers, who I think improvised her own material, kidding with all her plastic surgeries. And Rosie O'Donnell is great as a newly rich white trash.

Nip/Tuck at it's worst; Famke Jenssen as a former man, who has sex with Sean's son, Matt, and her own son.....before the latter kills himself and she just leaves his corpse and leave for Paris. There's several "worse episodes" of Nip/Tuck were Murphy shows he takes the easy way out. Like the babysitter Sean boned, who got hit by a bus before she could get to the police.....Monty Python.
