Planet Earth (1974 TV Movie)
4/10
No outsider female mentality in our community.

Warning: Spoilers
The tiresome Amazon community sequence brings out more groans than sympathy for the cause of a woman dominated society because the writing is extremely poor, presenting them as vile as the male world conquerors they fought to prevent by creating male slaves. If anything, this film accomplished nothing in women's rights but make certain factors argued about here seem laughable. To see the huge Ted Cassidy out of nowhere cowering in their presence is as laughable as the head band that keeps his wig from flying off. The actresses in this sequence are directed to overact, making an Amazon community I recall in a peplum movie seem much more realistic. The less said about Diana Muldaur in this the better. The comeuppance they get promises to be worth the wait because they are presented as villains.

As the hero, John Saxon goes through all sorts of weird situations prior to this laughable travesty of a society. It's obvious that their "sisterhood" could easily be destroyed by their own inner weaknesses and vices, especially the sin of grave envy. Janet Margolin gets much more respect as the far more sensible member of Saxon's team who knows that the planet won't survive post apocalypse the way the Amazons have taken over. The use of Century City for part of the set is obvious (now the entrance to the shopping center there), and there are a few interesting ideas, but as a regular TV series, this wouldn't have even make it halfway through the season. Laughable but not worthy of a cult status.
