Casting mistakes, very poor script
28 May 2022
Both Omar Sy and Reda Katel are not credible a single minute as submarines captains. While Omar does his best, you can't help waiting for the moment he's going to make some big funny joke, which of course is not possible in that kind of movie. Even his name (d'Orsy) is a quite pathetic attempt ot make some kind of wink.

Reda looks as he is laboriously reading a script and is not convincing at all, and it is obvious that he is not himself convinced of what he is saying. But maybe that can only be felt if you watch the movie in its original language and if you are French as I am.

François Civil is a pretty boy, that's true, but was it necessary to have so darn long close-ups on his face, concentrated with his headphones? Probably not. You end up with the impression that half of the movie is about seing his pretty face, like they do with Tom Cruise.

Only Mathieu Kassovitz emerges unscathed.

How come you can't believe they are in a submarine? It's horribly obvious they are in a studio, and you end up with serious doubts about the global movie credibility. Even the name of the movie is not really explained, while regularly repeated. It's probably an attempt to inject some poor poetry when there is no need to, like the sound of a propeller is like 'the song of the wolf' Pathetic.
