Power corrupts and education elevates is the core theme of the movie. The story also takes a strong stance against casteism and the need to develop yourself. Once the illiterate, simple man finds himself engrossed in history, science, and maths, things start to make sense, he starts finding solutions to every problem. It transforms him, in the end, he does not crave the seat of power, but the seat that brings education reform i-e of an education minister.
Yami Gautam shines such empowered and a strong female role suits her and brings out the best in her.
The movie is a beautiful and comedic portrayal of a very simple message: education is saraswati.
Abhishek Bachan, in his strongest suits, dark comedy and an influential and powerful role truly shines. It reminds us of Abhishek in Guru, which made me realise that an actor can perform best when he focuses on certain movie styles that fuel his talent externally.
