. . . is an "authentic Dizzy legend," according to host Leonard M. "It all came and dropped on us," the interview subject says regarding the onset of World War Two during A CONVERSATION WITH JOE GRANT. "We were paid cost plus 10%" by U. S. taxpayers for churning out propaganda films for the War Department during this period. Even the Great Dane at the desk of the government's Secretary of the Treasury laughed at this, he continues. These animated shorts such as EDUCATION FOR DEATH were not cartoons, but "editorials," Grant adds. "Back then entering the Pentagon was very exciting; there were many uniformed celebrities," though producer Daryl F. Zanuck simply wore a giant trench coat. "I think REASON AND EMOTION was our best work; it was highly praised at the time," Grant concludes.
