This is a Surf Movie in every way, but it is also a dramatic statement about the utter brokenness of American culture, deep-seated prejudices, psychological revenge, murder, mistaken identities, and California beach town culture. I have seen this film twice, and was impacted twice as hard the second time around. Emotionally, I can only compare it to the Australian gem Boys in the Trees (2016).
