Ghosts and loss of love
12 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Laura (Elodie Bouchez) meets fisherman Pierre (Rafi Pitts). She has already a teen son, he has also a boy and a girl. They fall in love and try to build a family with their kids and their baby. At the beginning, it's a wonderful love story, both Elodie and Rafi are so charismatic they match perfectly together. And Pierre loves entertaining the kids (Rafi worked with kids for Jacques Doillon).

But Laura's mental problems won't ease the situation.

Elodie Bouchez is wonderfully pretty when she smiles and when she falls in love, so is Rafi Pitts (with his charming smile or his terrific dark look), they are a marvelous couple. Her romantic dresses help create a moody atmosphere when she's next to the sea. And these settings on coast of Britanny really help the romantic story, with that house next to the sea (it makes me think of a masterpiece directed in 1920 by Marcel Lherbier, "l'Homme du large", also in Brittany). Elodie Bouchez is also disturbing when she loses her head. And there is the luminous Aurore Clément as Laura's friend who helps her.

All these original elements present us a gripping sentimental suspens. Bravo to Laetitia Masson and writer Eric Fottorino.

And glad to see Rafi Pitts again, a pleasant surprise. I remember Sam Fuller in a parisian library late 80's : "Rafi? Sounds a good name for a character in a movie".
