Review of C.O.G.

C.O.G. (2013)
5/10
No Satisfaction Whatsoever

Warning: Spoilers
I love David Sedaris' books, so I thought I would like this movie.

I can't say that I hated the movie. It was interesting to watch. But it was, basically, a series of unsatisfying encounters with unpleasant yokels.

My reason for watching this flick was the anticipation of seeing the "Sedaris" character throw out one witty, acerbic retort after another. Sadly, C. O. G. Is bereft of zingers.

We never got to see John get his due desserts. We never got to see David (aka, Samuel) get back on track with his true sense of self. And we never got to see him reconcile with his mother. He is left on a deserted road in the middle of Timbuktu, as lost at sea as he was at the start of the movie. Senseless. Nothing resolved, nothing learned, nothing gained. While John was spewing venom at David, I was praying for the latter to put him in his place, ala the Sedaris snark. Alas, it was not to be.
