Viewers of the really quite good TV series of the same name would probably have been disappointed with this cinematic spin-off.
If they wanted to see more of the characters from the TV show on the big screen they would have felt particularly short changed. Although some of them appear, they get very little screen time.
I feel that the always good Simon Oates from the TV show could have easily played Bannen's part. Instead he pops in and out of the story unsatisfactorily.
Conversely cinema goers unaware of the TV series would feel that there is clearly a back-story but they aren't really told about it.
Overall, this film has the feel of an hour TV episode stretched out to fill the time and with a 'name' actors Bannen and Geeson dropped in to give it cinema appeal.
