A cry, a promise broken and mother's love

Warning: Spoilers
I think I can go on and on about this incredible anime forever. Not a perfect product that it has many flaws but at same time has many perfections too.

At the middle of the film I was so afraid that the writer would turn this mother-son love into a romantic one, and she indeed inserted many hints about Ariel's Oedipus complex, but I felt so grateful and relieved that nothing happened and my experience with the anime remained amazing till its very end.

Maquia crying at the end is especially my favourite and I have rewatched the anime many times just to rewatch this very scene. Because Maquia doesn't just sniffle and snort but the mother really cries out loud and gets down to her knees like any mother in the same situation of losing their precious child would. She doesn't hold her emotion back and I was so glad that the writer didn't make her hold back and thus I could have my emotional burst too. So happy to be able to share this feeling with Maquia and from the bottom of my heart I thank everyone behind this incredible movie for such a journey. Really am grateful.

Definitely a must-watch title for the anti-war and feminism categories. Tip my hat to every mother on earth, biological or not, for the massive love they have for their children. You are the undisputed best.
