Final Run (1999 TV Movie)
2/10
I love a good B disaster movie! This is just a disaster of a movie.

Warning: Spoilers
As many others have pointed out, whoever wrote this piece of crap didn't even have a passing acquaintance with physics because basically NOTHING in this movie is realistic. I am fine with a certain level of "suspension of disbelief" in a movie, especially a disaster movie. It adds to the excitement of the movie if you are able to ignore the fact that something isn't exactly how it would really happen. But when you have insane things happening (like a single cup of spilled coffee making every electrical system in this top-of-the-line, brand new train immediately and irrevocably short out) from start to finish, it becomes much to distracting to be able to actually enjoy the movie. I love a good disaster movie, anything from San Francisco (1936) to 2012 (2009), and even the TV disasters like 10.5: Apocalypse (2006) or Category 7: The End of the World (2005), I am game! I really wanted to like this movie, it seemed like an exciting idea. But if you are making a movie that is all about technical glitches causing massive problems, you have to have the glitches and the solutions at least be close to possible. Just in case anyone wasn't sure NO you can NOT pull a runaway train to a stop using a helicopter! And why in the world did they need to blow the engine up AFTER derailing it into the gorge, other than so the hero could say the extremely stupid line of "reboot this." This movie was so full of facepalm moments I had a headache 10 minutes in. If you're looking for a fun B disaster movie, give one of the 10.5 or Category 6/7 movies a try, they are still ridiculous, but at least they're fun!
