Blazing Dragons (1996–1998)

A great cartoon of British humor
10 October 2021
"Blazing Dragons" is a cartoon from the forge of the Monty Phyton family and is strongly supported by the dry British humor that one knows and loves. Lots of little jokes and intelligent allusions to the history of Britain and the world of sagas, fables and adventures make the series a pleasure for lovers of the historical and the fantastic. The drawings are terrific, the background art is very detailed and the voice acting has been carefully selected and implemented. Sometimes the series is a tad too slow and the typical Monty Phyton humor definitely has a harder time here than in live-action shows, stand-alone films and parodies of the human world. For the smaller viewers, the main plot, the amusement of man and dragon, as well as the relative gloom is a reason to look carefully and happily here. All in all a great series that deserves a lot more attention and possibly a sequel that wants to stay true to the spirit of the original. Perhaps this little pearl of the cartoon world should stay to itself and not see a sequel that might lose sight of the core and zeitgeist of the series.
