Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021–2024)
7/10
Imperial defective clones turned into good mercenaries. Another nice addition to the franchise.

Dave Filoni developed another beautiful series, deepening the big SW Lore, creating interesting connections with other productions such as "The Mandalorian" and "The War of the Clones". He clearly knows what he is doing and he's in fact saving this saga, after the disaster committed with episodes seven, eight and nine. I really hope that Disney will eventually let him handle the new trilogy.

The story is very simple, and yet it works and I was entertained. The average length per episode is 25 minutes, a perfect runtime to develop the plot. Characters are very well built, the audience gets to know them very well, therefore it is easy to bond with them. I enjoyed the idea of family between The Bad Batch and Omega. However, I think that Echo is the only one that was left a little bit aside, and he became, after a couple of episodes, almost irrelevant. I hope that screenwriters will amend this issue in the second season. Aside from the main group, there are other interesting elements, such as Cid, or Eleni Syndulla. The first season is composed of sixteen episodes, therefore there are inevitably a few fillers. Some of them are enjoyable and may provide some useful information about certain events. Others unfortunately are really boring and you wonder when things start to move forward. I would have cut two or three episodes, just to have a more organic result.

The art is stunning, I really enjoyed landscapes that were nicely done. I really liked the general artistic direction, the graphics reminded me of a comic book. Digital artists put in a lot of effort for details. Action scenes are dynamic and tense. There are a lot of stealth sequences, therefore the audience does not have to see blaster fights all the time. If you enjoyed "The Mandalorian'', most probably you will like also "The Bad Batch". I think that SW fans should at least give it a try, because it really shows some aspects of the Lore that were never really on screen.
