In a way it's a lot of cliches put together, from pretty much all perspective - mobster honor, vengeance, American village folks and many other things. That said, it's kinds respects those cliches in their better light, and adds some soul to the story - probably vis the acting, because it's surprisingly good for all characters (save perhaps for the main evil one, that one could have been more convincing).
Overall it's a solid vengeance story, but it's more thoughtful than a multitude of "so now I'll just kill the lot of you" films on the subject, it's more subtle and thoughtful than that. It's no masterpiece, but it's worth watching.
