This would have pleased to Lee Strasberg I guess, a kind of tribute to his famous Actor's Studio and the Method of acting.... This is a lousy and clumsy film, especially because of the poor acting, but the story is very unusual, though totally incredible; and this explains that. The ending is very good, far from Hollywood standards. Maybe here, Lee Strasbreg's Method would have been useful to help the robbers to commit the perfect method.
