This movie addresses important and heavy themes, but does little work setting up the background necessary. The death of a main character marks a turning point in the film, when the movie tries to drive home important messages without setting up the background in the plot that makes the death significant.
My main issue isn't with the idea of the movie or the desired plot, but it makes no sense. Scenes are not thoroughly developed and it was confusing trying to watch. Characters will reference things without them being clear from the plot itself, which is even more confusing. When the main character professes his love to another character, it was never even clear in the movie that the two had romantic relations. Hard to follow.
