We watched this in Spanish class, I wish we we hadn't.
The acting in this movie is unconvincing, and the actors don't act a broad range of emotions.
Additionally, the film tried to be too much - it tried to be serious at the same time as a friendly family film. As a result, the plot is convoluted, and ridiculously silly- so it can be marketed towards children, and contains a weird, uncomfortable Oedipus complex that is badly executed. Thankfully, I didn't watch this with either of my parents.
The plot is neither captivating, nor intelligent, nor original - it's practically an adventure movie where they get stuck on a practically abandoned island, and meet an evil woman who wants to stay a child. Ring any bells?
