Warning: Spoilers
William Shatner is quite humorous in this episode, whether or not that was the intention. His line (referred to in my heading), as well as when he tells his wife: "Don't patronize me!" always make me laugh. Maybe I shouldn't have laughed in these places, but maybe they should have gotten an actor you can take more seriously. I'm not criticizing Shatner's performance. Unintended humor is often the best kind. Shatner's character is the only one who sees the creature on the wing of the plane. Nobody believes him. Is this because he had suffered a nervous breakdown, or would anyone else making the same claim have also been disbelieved? In any case, I must mention Christine White, as Shatner's wife. Despite her silly (and unneeded) wig, she came across as drop dead sexy!! It also looked like she was wearing little or no make-up. If the intention was to make her character look "plain," it didn't work! If she is plain, then she makes "plain" look good. What does all this have to do with the story? Depends on your point of view. If Shatner focused more on the nice lady next to him, he might not have been troubled by the creature outside! Christine White wasn't a well-known actress, but I have read that she was noted for her role in this episode.
