The Ritual (2012) is an Indonesian movie I recently watched on Tubi for free. The storyline focuses on a man who wakes up in a shallow grave in the woods who is being hunted. He watched some tapes and sees a pregnant woman appear to be gutted. He tries to track down and understand what happened while also staying alive. This movie is directed by Joko Anwar (Impetigore) and stars Rio Deanto (Love & Faith), Hannah Al Rashid (The Night Comes for Us) and Marissa Anita (Gundala). This film has an uneven storyline and some choppy dubbing; however, by the time you get to the end and understand what's going on it's actually pretty interesting. There's also some worthwhile intense sequences like every time he turns on the tape, where he's getting chased and the guy is shooting arrows at him and the neck cut scene at the end. There's some redeeming aspects to this that makes it worth your time. I'd score this a solid 6.5/10.
