'Bedhead (1991)' is a short film created almost solely by Robert Rodriguez, starring his younger siblings as a set of kids whose typical squabbling is suddenly livened up when superpowers are introduced into the mix. It's a somewhat strange affair, presented almost entirely as a narrated flashback, but it showcases pretty much all the no-budget skills its director would come to be known for. It's energetic, lively and rather enjoyable. It isn't exactly deep, but it takes a few twists and turns and remains more-or-less engaging throughout. It has the charm of a home-video, yet it also manages to work for audiences who aren't members of the Rodriguez family. It's a solid debut. 6/10
