Maybe in the hands of a Sturges or a Ben Hecht this rom com between two big city mayors in San Fran would sparkle and crackle. Here, as presented by the very undistinguished director George Sidney and a writer I've never heard of named Robert Riley (bout as funny as a) Crutcher, it, at best, intermittently hums. And with two such large stars in the lead couldn't MGM have sprung for some location shooting in this most cinematic of towns, for cryin out loud? Give it a C.
