Inheritance of Dior: Parallel Designer Raf Simons

Warning: Spoilers
When I saw the black and white opening scene gradually entering, I initially thought it was a biopic film about Christian Dior. But as modern designer Raf Simons bashfully enters the camera, the plot of the story just gradually becomes clear. The documentary follows Raf Simons in creating his first haute couture collection after joining Christian Dior. From beginning the collection to the fashion show, it only has eight weeks to prepare all the haute couture collection and the venue of the final show. This is also what the documentary brings me unique touches and passionate feelings towards fashion. "Elegance" is not only reflected in the external dressing of Dior, but also, as always, the elegant spirit inside Christian Dior.

Perhaps, this is how fashion documentaries film, which do not stick to expose the ugliness behind the beauty, because this is contrary to the original aesthetic intention, it does not focus on the bitterness under the beautiful dress, because this will weaken the aura of fashion. Instead, the film focuses on shooting behind the glossy catwalk, and there's still another gorgeous stage.

This documentary not only gives me a deeper understanding of Christian Dior, a brand with a long history, but also makes me think about the relationship between fashion/designer concept and the interests of businessmen. When a designer's ideas conflict with the interests of businessmen, how should we weigh the pros and cons? Only when ready-to-wear brings benefits can the pursuit of haute Couture's lofty ideals continue to be fulfilled.
