Was Michael O'keefe's Stand In for the Film
11 February 2021
I was Michael O'keefe's Stand In for the Film. I had just recently returned from working in Europe for 9 months. I was working under Geoffrey Bradford; my real name is Jeff Bradford Zach. It was dead of Winter and bitter cold with lots of night shoots. Conditions out in the Highlands, where a lot of the shots were, were brutal. The budget was very very low. The accommodations and food cheap. I lived down the coast in Belmar, and drove in each day and night. Mike and Elizabeth McGovern were busting their asses to bring life to the script. Mike treated me as a colleague Actor as we had both studied at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and had the same Teachers. I came back somewhat broke from doing modeling and commercials in Europe, so I took the Stand In job, banking on the SAG day rate running into overtime wages, daily, which it did. Elizabeth treated like I was actually acting in the film, and was really sweet. The crew and especially Don Scardino, the Director, did an excellent job with no money and a somewhat flawed script. The Actors didn't care and gave 100% anyway. I had a great experience. Wish I could have kept in contact with Mike and Elizabeth. Class act. Both of them. The movie is actually pretty damn good considering.
