Every once in awhile there's an in-joke (i.e. A113) and occasionally there is an interesting irony to a text's intereaction with Pixar's business-to wit the anti-consumerism in WALL-E. But rarely does Pixar build films around commenting on other films or its own conventions. This is the rare exception. The short is primer on the horror genre-largely delivered by Mr. Pricklepants in funny comedic asides-and a condensed version of Toy 1 & 2. It is fun and engaging as all Pixar but it is this meta vibe that makes this stand out.
