The Chronological AliceFilmQuest I

The very first "screen" adaptation of Alice's Adventures is this 1903 effort directed by two very early cinema enthusiasts - who both went on to found two of Britain's first film companies - which at that point were just as much about selling equipment as they were about making films so this narratively brisk but quite effects-heavy rendition of Alice is more a proof of concept than anything that really makes sense unless you've read the novel - and absolutely all of the audience would have by this point I'm sure. Not much of it survives and you can find it easily enough on the internet - a fascinating curio, a historic first and a window into the past but not much more.
