STRAYS is a low budget indie drama about a gang member trying to make something of his life, although this essentially involves him romancing a nice girl. There's little more plot development than that; this is a film in which character is key above all, but I just didn't buy it. By essence the story is long-winded and talky and there just seems to be no life in it at all; I didn't like the crowd involved, I found the romance boring, and the motivations trivial at best. The only thing of note is that it features a pre-stardom Vin Diesel then breaking into the mainstream, but despite his unique appearance even he's nothing special.
