In Colombia, English adventurer Rian Mitchell (Stewart Granger) discovers Carrero, the lost emerald mine of the Conquistadors. El Moro's bandits kill his guide and leaving him for dead. He is rescued Father Ripero who brings him to a coffee plantation owned by Catherine Knowland (Grace Kelly) and her brother Donald. Rian returns to the city to find his business partner Vic Leonard leaving for Canada.

This may be the earliest Hollywood movie with a Tejo game. I think that I only saw this game a few years ago on a travel show. Once he gets to Grace Kelly, I expected that the lead would stay there to woo her. The movie loses a bit of steam dealing with Vic in the city. At least, it allows him to play a lot of Tejo but I'd rather stay at the coffee plantation. The story should be a lot simpler. It's based on a memoir but who cares? Change it all. Write out Vic. I like the setup but the rest is a bit of a grind. Granger is fine but one hopes for better to play opposite Grace Kelly. This is fine.
