Review of Guest in the House

I've always been confused how in the beginning, Aunt Bea kept telling Andy to be nice to Gloria and help keep her spirits up. And Helen telling him not to be so disagreeable (grumpy) about it

Then they both get angry with him for being too nice.

I just never understood it.
