Film Review - Ne Zha (2019) 7.1/10

"So, for audience who are au fait of the mythology, the plot is bold enough to reimagine Ne Zha as a recalcitrant, mean-spirited troublemaker, his sulky, feral appearance is diametrically different from the usual image of a young, plucky hero. And Ao Bin, his arch enemy in the original story, comes off as a regal prince, but his heart-of-gold is also encumbered with a predestined vocation. Ne Zha's demonic nature means, when push comes to shove, he has no qualms about laying into the innocent lesser mortals, as for Ao Bin, the Spirit Pearl cannot preclude him from decimating an entire village to uphold his mission."
