Warning: Spoilers
As usual, somehow, Allen gets you absorbed into the characters, their situations and scenarios.

This film concentrates on Allens character David Dobel, teaching a younger version of himself Jerry Falk, that he meets and they continue to meet and have discussions about relationships, psychiatry, work, life and things. Jerry's girlfriend Amanda is summed up by Dobel in the short moment they met and Jerry cannot seem to see exactly what's happening under his own nose... You want Jerry to see what's happening, his inability to break off bad relationships, such as his girlfriend, his manager and his psychiatrist.

Allen also manages to direct the scenes to make the cinematography appear as a documentary, very natural, including the minor background scenes and the secondary impulses people have when in dialogue, such as ordering coffee, reactions to bumping into other people, speaking over others and each other.
