You probably watched a FAN EDIT
27 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah! DON'T believe this is the Director's Cut, is not! Is a merely the work of a proactive fan who put the two movies together. "The Whole Bloody Affair" never ever has been released either in DVD, Blu-Ray or Digital Copy. The only time that Kill Bill Vol.1 and Vol.2 was showed like this to an audience, in a theatre was in the premiere in Cannes.

What you find in internet and some sold Blu-Rays is a "bootleg" to put it a name. Is well edited, most of the 4 hours (there's some audio issues), probably 90% accurate (only people in Cannes could confirm that, right?). The inserts works (as the deleted scene when Bill kills some gang looking for revenge) BUT the one in the bonfire scene (narrating the story of Pai Mei)? COME ON GIMME A BREAK! That's not material shot by Tarantino, actually is footage from "The Clan of the White Lotus (1980) where he copied the five point palm exploding heart technique from. But the worst thing is those images are put in LOW RESOLUTION!!! Whoever with healthy eyes can noticed that, no need knowledge about editing.

I'm a fan of Tarantino but let's be honest: We all know he "homages, remixes/steals" vintage stuff to make it better (i.e the yellow suit, from Bruce Lee's Game of Death (1978), the backlit showdown from Samurai Fiction (1988), the showdown from Fists of Fury (1972), the snow fight with O Ren from Lady Snowblood (1973), the blood tears of Gogo from City of the Living Dead (1980), the redrage look before a killing from Death Rides a Horse (1967), the glasses on the Sheriff's car from Gone in 60 Seconds (1974), the crossed list from The Mercenary (1968) and so on). I don't know why IMDB put this in its database, is not a new movie, not a version of the movie but a piracy effort.
