Stands the test of time,

To say The Last Picture show is like a 1950's soap opera doesn't really do the film justice but that's exactly what it is , even down to the closing credits .

It's all about the lives of high school friends Sonny , Duane and Jacy who's relationships overlap in a dying 1950s Texas town.

Being shot in black and white it really does help with the feel of desolation . The Town looks like it's on it's last legs and you certainly feel it because of the brilliant country soundtrack that is almost permanently in the background.

At 9 minutes and 54 seconds, Ben Johnson's performance in this movie is the shortest to ever win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Cloris Leachman , who played Ruth Popper , also won an Oscar.

You can see why the two boys fought over Jacy because Cybill Shepherd was absolutely gorgeous and was brave to do a nude scene at the age of 20 .

This isn't a film that's mentioned too often when 1970's movies are spoken about and I'm surprised because it certainly stands the test of time .
