My expectations were really low when I watched this and I was amazed at how not awful it was. Sure, certain elements of the show were very kiddie (which I expected), such as the very cheesy jokes and blown-up side characters but the conflicts that happen in the plot are surprisingly mature. You learn over the course of the series of each of the character's motivations, understanding that both sides have a point and the way they handle it is beyond phenomenal. Good show.
