'The Unfinished Swan (2012)' is a charming puzzle-platformer centered around a young boy who enters an incomplete painting his mother has left behind in search of a mysterious, lonely king. The game features several distinct locations each with their own distinct mechanics. For example, you start in a world that is completely white but have the ability to throw balls of ink; you must splatter the environment carefully to distinguish between objects and manoeuvre past obstacles. Later levels have you using water to grow vines that you can climb on, draw shapes that you can walk on and push around a ball of light to protect you from creatures lurking in the darkness. It's a short but inventive piece, with a wonderful aesthetic and a somewhat wistful tone. It feels like a living storybook, as is intended, and is entertaining throughout. It is simple but that's part of its appeal. It's unique, enjoyable experience. 7/10
