If you could write the script for your life

Warning: Spoilers
If you could write the script for your life what would it look like? Most people, I'm sure, would write themselves having a pleasant life with little to no ills or setbacks. I think a better question would be: what if you could rewrite one aspect of your life? I think that's a tougher decision to make.

John Gable (John Candy) was a writer for a daytime soap opera. The lead lady in the soap opera was a self-absorbed priss who John was infatuated with though the producers couldn't stand her. John wanted to keep her on the show while the producers wanted to replace her with a new character named Janet (Mariel Hemingway). When John got into a car wreck and blacked out he woke up in his own soap opera except he could alter the script real-time with his own typewriter.

I think the funniest part of the movie was the running gag with the older brother of the rich soap opera family. Rachel (Emma Samms), the selfish evil sister, was trying to slowly kill her brother Blake (Dylan Baker). It made for some good laughs as he exhibited one ugly symptom after another without a clue as to why.

Even without hearty laughs the movie was a good rom-com as it turned out to be. John came to realize that the woman he was in "love" with was nothing more than a thoughtless, inconsiderate, self-loving, greedy, sow. And the woman he was ignoring was the total opposite and totally more loveable even if she was a klutz.
