Nice movie!

City Lights was a discovery even though I am not quite sure if in a positive or negative way. Even though it is a pre-code movie, I founded the beginning a bit slower than what I expected. When I watch movies, I make sure that nothing is distracting me, but, while watching this movie, I often times found myself unfocused on the story itself. Although I didn't particularly enjoyed how the story started, I certainly agree on the basis that the movie has a noticeable importance and presents remarkable innovations. City Streets was released only two years after the introduction of sound movies and right before the Code was introduced. I found very innovative the scene of the ride when "the Kid" race the train keeping a high speed. The fast sequence of the scenes, the movements of the camera, and the rising of the suspense made this part of the movie very enjoyable.
