My palms were really sweating during the cable car scenes

Kudos to film director Rudolph Maté for taking a tyypical Hollywood film script: "A mobster's comáre (Linda Darnell) is being hunted down by the mobster's main hitman (Jack Palance) who wants her for himself, but a professional boxer (Robert Mitchum) comes to the damsel in distress's aid. The "chase" takes Clare Shepperd, alias Clare Sinclair (Linda Darnell) and her new found love boxer Russ Lambert (Robert Mitchum) to a romantic rendevouz at the top of a mountain in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.

The two new lovers journey to the top of the Mexican mountain is achieved by travelling on an open air rickety sky high cable car which is where the film director Rudolph Maté 's brilliance is in full view. While Clare is trying to escape the murderous hitman Cappy Gordon (Jack Palance) he finds his prey Clare and her new lover Russ enjoying their romantic rendevouz at the luxurious hotel that sits atop the mountain peak. Clare agrees to leave her new love Russ at the top of the mountain and escape with the creepy and vicious killer Cappy to avoid any further killing.

Russ who is in love with Clare figures out that there is some undue pressure being placed on Clare for her to have decided to leave their new found relationship as if there is nothing between them anymore. Halfway down the mountain top where the sky high cable car makes the regular pit stop Cappy meets up with the two lovers and you just know that a battle for Clare's love is about to go down between Cappy and Russ. It's a very suspenseful fight to the finish and I don't want to spoil what is a sweat inducing scene to end the film. Watch and find out for yourself as I did and you will not be disappointed with the scenery and/or the top notch acting from the three (3) main stars, Linda Darnell, Robert Mitchum and Jack Palance.

A praiseworthy 7 out of 10 rating. Kudos to film director Rudolph Maté for delivering an action packed suspense/thriller.
