I just finished watching this and I found it to be pretty good. The combination of science fiction and a story of unrequited love worked well.
In particular, I've gained an interest in the life and career of tragic Hollywood figure Barbara Payton. By the time she made this film she was trying to salvage what had become a faded career by going to the UK to make films. I liked her performance in this, and I wonder if she had stayed in England a little longer and made more films like this would she have straightened out and turned her life and career around. It's one of those many "what ifs" in life. In any event, it was a good early Hammer film.
