Funny, Romantic its a Story about Fate and Destiny
27 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Indie film set in Boston that really isn't your ordinary romantic comedy/drama, features a bossa nova soundtrack.

It's the story of a nurse Erin (Hope Davis) who gets dumped by her activist boyfriend (Phillip Seymour Hoffman), and a plumber Alan (Alan Galfant) who is studying to be marine biologist while volunteering at the local aquarium. The two cross paths repeatedly but never manage to meet.

In the meantime there are some other romantic entanglements for both, as well as the interference of Erin's mother (Holland Taylor) who puts a personal ad in the paper for her daughter. There is also a loan shark who is pressuring Alan to pay back the money he borrowed for school. Both situations lead to considerable humor.

Very well written and featuring an above average cast for a low budget independent film. As an indie it stays away from tedious Hollywood formulas.
