Mediocre little culture-based comedy

Warning: Spoilers
The title "Flight of the Conchords: A Texan Odyssey" makes it obvious already that this 44-minute live action short film we have here is closely linked to the pretty successful television show "Flight of the Conchords". The name Jemaine Clement may be familiar to some as he has garned accolades and successes in other recent productions as well, for example on a particular vampire comedy. But back to this one here that has Clement listed as writer and actor. Yes actor is correct as this is of course not a documentary indeed, but just a spoof of a documentary. The humor seems pretty dry, pretty sober and sometimes it works nicely, other times it doesn't work at all. Here and there we get a good moment, but it still drags a bit and 30 minutes could have been enough. Nonetheless fun to see Morissey early on included in here I would say, especially as he is not included in the cast list, as I am a pretty big fan of him and saw him live already. Shame he was gone this quickly. Now away from me already again and back to the project here. Maybe it is required to have seen and even better be a fan of FotC, but I myself am none of either and you really should not have to be in order to appreciate this project. Or any project that you have seen something else, especially if this came first. All in all, the comedy just wasn't good and frequent enough and therefore I give it a thumbs-down. Not recommended.
