TAKUT: FACES OF FEAR is a typical independent horror anthology film, with the twist that it hails from Indonesia. I was hoping for some distinctly localised menace in the subsequent production, but it turns out to be a collection of familiar stories about ghosts, serial killers and the like. The film is blighted by over-familiarity and the cheapness and grunginess of the cinematography, which both work against it, and the fear factor is negligible.
