As a cliffhanger to the fourth season of All Hail King Julien, Exiled is both funny and serious in the best way

When the fifth season of All Hail King Julien came out on Netflix and was titles All Hail King Julien: Exiled, I became interested And when I watched the entire season, it blew me away. Before I give this some praise, my only quibble is that the pacing did drag a bit.

That being said, everything else is great. To those who don't know, the original All Hail King Julien series was supposed to take a Game of Thrones parody route, but DreamWorks Animation used it to an advantage here. And does it work? Yes it does. The story is superbly written. It manages to take a more serious turn while maintaining the silliness of All Hail King Julien while continuing the characterization of Julien. Not only that, it develops the other side characters including Mort, Maurice, and Clover as they try to gather an army that would take down Koto. Speaking of Koto, he's a really interesting villain much like Karl and balances intimidating and funny perfectly. The music score is really good, the comedy is even perfect, the action is superb, and Julien and the other characters continue to be likeable throughout the season.

Overall, All Hail King Julien: Exiled is a worthy addition to the original series. To those who haven't seen it or the original series, go check it out and you won't regret it. Recommended! :)
