October (II) (2018)
9/10
A Bollywood Masterpiece with subtle human emotions
14 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
October is a beautiful movie about human emotions, well acted and well written. It's like the fragrance of the flower "Shiuli" which lingers in your mind and soul even after leaving the theatre hall. Shoojit Sircar and Juhi Chaturvedi were successful in bringing out a poetic masterpiece. It showed that even without songs and melodrama, a movie can show what love is. I saw a few negative comments like boring, bad story, no story, overacting, waste of time, slow movie etc posted, to all this I have only one answer " what were you expecting.... a Bollywood masala, with unnecessary songs and music... or the same conventional melodrama of love and loss... then I'm sorry to say... you shouldn't watch this movie at all, go for some commercial movies packed with songs, fights and same old stories... yes it's slow but the slowness is balanced with its script, it tries to show the reality ... how friends and family go through when their near and dear ones have a mishap like this, it's not about death, it's about survival, survival of the patient and family ...testing their patience, and it does't happen in a day.. it takes time.... an infinite time. That's beautifully shown and the makers of the film didn't hurry to the climax. I can relate more maybe because I have been in a hospital immobile for 4 months! But that's how it is. Incidents happen in a second but the recovery takes longer. Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu did complete justice to their characters, nothing more nothing less. Go to watch the movie if you want to connect and understand subtle human emotions, if going for time pass please go for a Bollywood masala and not this "Bollywood masterpiece".
