*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder, Michael Hertzberg, Kenneth Mars, Lee Meredith, John Morris and Andreas Voutsinas are just a few of the people who are interviewed for this 63-minute documentary that takes a look at the making of and release of THE PRODUCERS. If you're a fan of the film then you're going to really enjoy this documentary as it goes into great details about the making of the picture and some of the funniest moments come from the pre-production. Brooks talks about how he got the idea for the movie and then we get into the casting and a funny bit of Wilder being cast. There's also an interesting Dustin Hoffman story, which makes you wonder what might have been. The documentary covers all aspects of the production including the Springtime for Hitler bit and some of the controversy that came from it. This documentary really does contain a lot of great information and it's certainly going to keep fans entertained throughout.
